This section describes what information is collected, how it is used, and users’ rights with respect to their personal information.
Information Collected Voluntarily: SYNERGY 5 collects personal information that users voluntarily provide when placing a reservation through the website, including name, email address, phone number, selected products, and preferred pickup location. This information is collected solely for the purpose of fulfilling the reservation at the designated 5Buds Cannabis retail location and is transmitted to the store’s point-of-sale system (COVA) for that purpose. Age verification is completed in person at the time of pickup based on government-issued identification.
Information Collected Automatically: When users visit the website, certain information is collected automatically through Google Analytics 4, including approximate geographic location, device and browser type, pages viewed, time spent on the site, referring URLs, and a truncated IP address (Google Analytics applies IP anonymization by default). This information is processed by Google LLC on servers located in the United States. SYNERGY 5 uses this data to understand website usage patterns and improve the user experience. Users may review Google’s privacy practices at https://policies.google.com/privacy and may opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Age Verification: Access to the website requires confirmation that the user is of legal age to purchase cannabis in Saskatchewan (19 years of age or older). Users are asked to enter their date of birth at the age verification gate. The date of birth is used solely to validate age. Upon successful verification, a non-identifying cryptographic token is stored in a browser cookie to indicate that age verification has been completed, allowing the user to continue browsing without re-verifying on subsequent visits. The cookie contains no personal information and cannot be used to identify the user.
Data Retention and De-identification: Reservation records are de-identified automatically 72 hours after the reservation is placed. During this process, name, email address, phone number, IP address, browser user agent, order notes, and any other personal identifiers are permanently removed from the website’s records. Only non-identifying information about the reservation itself (such as the products selected and the date of the reservation) is retained for inventory and reporting purposes. Once de-identified, records cannot be linked back to an individual user. Reservation information transmitted to the retail location’s point-of-sale system (COVA) is retained by that system in accordance with its own data retention practices and applicable regulatory requirements. Google Analytics data is retained by Google for the periods configured in the Google Analytics account (currently the default retention periods: two months for event data and fourteen months for user data), after which it is automatically deleted by Google.
Cookies: The website uses cookies for age verification (a cookie containing a non-identifying cryptographic token to record that the user has completed age verification), reservation functionality (session cookies required for the reservation system to function properly), and analytics (Google Analytics cookies such as
_gaand_ga_*used to distinguish unique visitors and measure website usage). Users may disable cookies through their browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the website, including the ability to complete age verification and place reservations.Disclosure to Third Parties: SYNERGY 5 does not sell or rent personal information. Personal information is disclosed only to the 5Buds Cannabis retail location fulfilling the reservation (via the COVA point-of-sale system), to Google LLC in the form of analytics data collected automatically as described above, and to government authorities where required by law. Users should be aware that personal information transmitted to or processed by Google may be stored on servers located outside of Canada, including in the United States, and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
Your Rights: Under PIPEDA, users have the right to access the personal information SYNERGY 5 holds about them, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information, withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of their personal information (subject to legal or contractual restrictions), and file a complaint with SYNERGY 5 or with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Requests to exercise these rights may be directed to the Privacy Officer using the contact information below. Requests will generally be responded to within 30 days.
Children: The website is intended only for individuals of legal age to purchase cannabis in Saskatchewan (19 or older). SYNERGY 5 does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of majority. Any individual who believes that a minor has provided personal information through the website is encouraged to contact the Privacy Officer so that the information may be removed.
